Mark Renshaw guest of honour for the Smedts Construction – Legends of Cycling Dinner.

Bathurst’s Mark Renshaw, one of the most successful professional cyclists’ that Australia has ever produced, will visit the South West Victorian coastal town of Warrnambool in February as part of the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic event weekend.

Renshaw is well known for his successful partnership with British sprinter Mark Cavendish. Together the pair worked to notch up endless victories including stages at the Tour de France, with Renshaw earning the title as the world’s best lead-out man.

“I’m looking forward to being part of the Melbourne to Warrnambool and witnessing some great NRS racing in Australia,” said the recently retired Renshaw.

“It will be a pleasure to share some stories from my career at the dinner and meet the people who have helped and supported cycling in Australia.”

Renshaw will be the guest of honour at the Smedts Construction Legends of Cycling Dinner.

Hosted by Pat Shaw, the evening will be a chance for local cycling fans to hear about life as a European professional.

The newly crowned 2020 Melbourne to Warrnambool male and female champions will also be present along with Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic legend Peter “Bulldog” Besanko.

Besanko is a Melbourne home grown talent that loved nothing more than riding from his home town to Warrnambool to collect the winners sash. That he did in 1984, 1989 & 1992, from scratch! He is a true Warrny legend.
